J’aime Le Dubstep no59 – Bombaman

June 08th, 2010 | Category: J'aime le Dubstep, Mixes

Jaime-wk59-500

Well, well. This week’s mix is Big and Banging!! We’ve got Bombaman bringing us mix no59 jammed packed with original productions and remixes. I’ve been lucky enough to have a few of these dubs under my fingers and they are pure fire on the bins. I absolutely love the new Bombaman sounds.

Get an ear full and wash’em out, but get some bio action first:

BOMBAMAN / Toronto, Canada
BADMAN PRESS || LO DUBS || LA DUBSTEP NOSTRA || FRESH KID || SOUTHERN FRIED || BIG DADA

Bombaman aka one half of the dubstep duo Loetech with XI from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
As Kid Kameleon put it in his column “Basic Needs” in the December 2007 issue of XLR8R, he makes dark, weird, boundary pushing music for you to meditate to in a club with large speakers.
These days he is working on making sure his beats live up to that expectation. Always looking for a new way to mangle sub bass, you can find him pushing out new music every week in the form of 4/4, electro tinged dubstep.
With forthcoming releases on Nightshifters, Hot n Heavy and Sub Philo, and releases already available on Lo Dubs, Aufect Recordings, Dim Mak and Big Dada you can be sure there is a Bombaman sound suited to you.
Working with XI for the past four years producing music and performing on their radio show Loetech Radio courtesy of SUB.FM, he has traveled across North America including Chicago, San Francisco, Montreal, Vancouver and New York in search for the perfect sound system.
You can hear Crookers, Rusko, Diplo, 12th Planet, DZ, Starkey, Stenchman, the Trouble & Bass crew and many other top shelf DJ’s playing his music these days, so keep an ear to ground, he might be in your city next.

J’aime Le Dubstep no57 – Jeekoos

May 26th, 2010 | Category: J'aime le Dubstep

Jaime-wk57-500

This week no57, We’ve got another big mix for you this time from Chicago’s Jeekoos. I first heard of Jeekoos years ago when I was listening to archives of Part Time Sucker radio. Through this show I discovered other Chicago artist such as DJ C & Murderbot. So needless to say, I’m very happy to have Jeekoos as guest DJ this week. Check out some background info below.

Bio biznezz:
Jeekoos (the English spelling of the Polish word Dzikus, loosely translated as “a feral woodsman”) crept into the Chicago music scene playing bass in punk bands and producing four-track hiphop and breakbeat-type madness. Always a seeker of fresh musical experiences, Jeekoos found himself at a party near the end of the century. It was there that Jeekoos encountered jungle music. Soon after, he discovered Part Time Sucker Radio – a consistent source of jungle, breakbeats and DnB. Impressed by the show’s selections of styles and sounds, Jeekoos became a regular listener, then a contributor, then a freekin’ resident dj. When Jeekoos ran up on Dubstep, with its intensity, gnarly basslines and attention to detail, he naturally incorporated it into his sets and production style. He crafts tunes and mixes that are nothing short of block-rocking. Jeekoos also props up Chicago’s low-down sounds with sick event flyers and web design and is the man behind the MidwestDubstep.com forum. Respect to tha Wubmaster!

J’aime Le Dubstep no54 – NMEZEE

May 05th, 2010 | Category: J'aime le Dubstep, Mixes

Jaime-wk54-500

Mix no54 this week brought to you by NMEZEE, coming out of Kansas City. Check out the bio for some creds and download to mix cause that’s what your here for. Enjoy the mix, then check him out on Dubstep.FM

Next week, 55 by Olie Bassweight, New Zealand.
Then 56 by !Stylust Beats, Vancouver. Plenty more to follow…

Some bio stuff:
NMEZEE was born in St. Louis, Mo., and came by way of Cape Girardeau, Mo., to reside in Kansas City, Mo. By the age of 16, he was already learning the ways of the music-world’s turntables, using records such as “Tribe Called Quest,” “Hieroglyphics,” and “KRS-One” to experiment with beat-juggling, scratching, and other tricks.
At 18, he switched over to drum and bass, playing around with groups like C4C, Technical Itch, and Panacea, to further hone his skills on the turntables. The practice paid off when he was asked to join a production crew called StreetSonic, putting him in his first show opening for DRC and THEE-O. He continued to play small clubs, helping ravers rage well into the night.
A few years later NMEZEE, along with his friend Two-Tone, started a four-turntable drum and bass group named Herbal Assassins, each playing two decks. They went on to play numerous opening gigs for headliners, such as The Urge and The Crystal Method. After the group parted ways, NMEZEE moved to Kansas City where he joined with J Fortune and LOTUS Camp… He was introduced to dubstep through a fellow crew mate, and the group began producing series of shows, such as KABLAMMO!, which featured dubstep, and FUNKADELIC, featuring drum and bass. NMEZEE also started hosting shows once a week on the number one Internet dubstep station called Dubstep.fm.
In 2008, NMEZEE joined up with two friends to start a production group called E.Z. Brothers. With six turntables, crazy costumes, and some of the sickest dubstep around, E.Z. Brothers travel around the Midwest to keep the people dancing. They’ve opened for the likes of EOTO, sub-headlined at Underground Sound 4, and did a mini-tour with 12th Planet. The group consistently draws huge crowds, all wanting to be a part of their dubstep revolution. Be on the lookout for upcoming shows and special events by the E.Z. Brothers. In the meantime, you can catch NMEZEE dj’ing his show “Blackout” on Dubstep.fm once a week. PeaceLove&Beats
